Your Funniest Domestic Moment – Contest!

We had such a hard time choosing the winner.  All the stories were SO FUNNY!  It ended up being a three-way tie between the great cake debacle, eggs and the grocery store and the deep freeze defrost.  They all made us laugh out loud.  Brandon had the idea to take the top three and make a drawing.  So we ended up doing a drawing from these three and the WINNER IS… Carolyn Rutherford!!  Congrats Carolyn!!

Here’s mine:  I caught a pan of olive oil ON FIRE once.  yes fire.  It was our first apartment and I wanted to fry french fries.  I recently discovered olive oil and I thought… oh that will taste yummy.  So I poured in a bunch of olive oil for frying goodness.  Nooooooo.  Did you know olive oil has a low smoke point?  Um, yeah.  I did not know this.  Besides, I had no idea what smoke point was.  As it turns out when you try to heat up certain oils for frying (oh, say like olive oil) it will catch on fire! That’s what it means.  Laugh now. The flames out of my  little pan were about 2 feet.  I can’t really remember, we weren’t photographers at the time and we didn’t take a picture.  But I was horrified and Brandon was laughing.  Luckily I realized I should do something and slapped my glass lid on top and smothered the fire. It was a disaster and we had to air out the whole apartment.  Good times, good times. :)
