Twilight and Forks – Washington

Woo hoo!  Day two pictures from our Seattle trip.  As I said in the last blog post, we flew to Seattle-Tacoma airport, picked up the rental car and drove to Port Angelas.  We stayed at the Red Rooster Inn Bed and Breakfast.  Breakfast was indeed yummy! We originally planned to do a photo shoot with our B+G at the Hoh Rainforest, but location plans changed. I realized that the Hoh Rainforest was right near Forks, WA. Suddenly I got even more excited. Twilight fans will understand.

Since we were going to be there I had to at least check out this Twilight madness that has developed in Forks.  My younger cousins and nieces, friends of friends, etc. quickly became super excited with girly squeals and such when I said we were going to Forks and La Push.  Anyway, we woke up, had a super yummy breakfast at the BNB and then hopped in our rental car towards Forks.  We started the drive and the road follows Lake Crescent, a gorgeous mountain lake.  It took forever for us to actually get to Forks because we kept stopping every 5 or 10 minutes to take pictures.  :)

After about 20 minutes it becomes quite apparent why Brandon “banned” me from the mountains back in the little town of Julian outside San Diego, CA. I’m not a mountain roads kinda girl. So we stop at the first gas station we see (which are far and few between) and I get the mountain necessities: dramamine, pretzels, and a Dr. Pepper.

The sign at this gas station cracked me up.  I loved it!  Already you can see the Twilight madness has kicked in.  I tell the lady at the gas station that my cousins are all jealous I’m up here.  She tells me I have to check out this store called Dazzled by Twilight.  Apparently it’s crazy inside and they’ve gone all out.  She mentions trees and then says, “I’ll just let you find out yourself.”  I thank her for the tip and we get back in the car still heading towards Forks.  I munch on pretzels and sip DP the entire time.

It’s crazy how busy the Forks sign was.  Every 5 minutes another car or two would pull up and people would get out and take a picture with the sign.  90% of the time it was teenage girls, super excited about TWILIGHT!  It’s amazing how much business and tourism the series has brought to this small town.  It’s good for them.  So we met this cute couple I think they were from Vancouver, but I can’t quite remember.  They loved Mad Tater and wanted a picture with him.  I think they’ll be getting a tater of their own soon.  (the potato head madness ensues!)

Yes, here we are inside Dazzled by Twilight. The carpet is grass. There are trees, and lots of Twilight stuff. It was pretty crazy!

Mad Tater prefers Edward.  :)

We stopped by the Forks Chamber of Commerce to pick up the self guided tour map, which was pretty lame.  For example, they picked someone’s house to be “Bella’s House” and put it on the map and there’s a sign out front.  Entertaining for some perhaps, especially younger peeps.  :)  So we skipped out on that and headed towards Rialto Beach but not before leaving our mark behind and sticking a pin on Weatherford.  Yes, they had Weatherford on the map.  Cool!  LOL  Anyway this map is just one of the maps.  There was a world map too but I was too lazy to push other Twilight goers out of the way to take a picture of it.  These are all the little pins for people who have come to experience Twilight.  Crazy hua?

Our adventure continues on the same day to the Hoh Rainforest and Rialto Beach.  More trip posts coming soon!
