happy. new. year.
happy. new. blog. website. blog-site.
2010 is here and it gives us the opportunity to reflect and ponder about our past and future. I used to make New Year’s resolutions but this year (and last) I have not made any. This morning I woke up and had a cookie for breakfast – there goes healthy eating. I also worked on this blog-site all day, so there goes my life work balance issue. Actually come to think of it I did try to make a resolution – to go on a cruise – but Brandon corrected me and said that was a plan not a resolution. I beg to differ…
Well, I’m not sure how to say this so I will start with: hello, my name is Brandy and I’m 90% sure I’m obsessive compulsive to some extent. Is there any other way I can begin to describe the madness that became my blog/website carousel of torture? I can let my shoes pile up and I can happily start the day without making the bed. But apparently I can’t stop looking at everyone else’s blogs and websites and thinking “how could I make mine better?” If I were to make (and keep) a New Year’s Resolution this would be a good one to try.
It all started rather simply – I thought it was a good idea to merge my old blog with my new blog. THEN it snowballed into great varying degrees of changes: flash sites – no flash sites – blog-sites etc. In my (what I refer to now as pure creative frenzy) I accidentally deleted my new blog’s pictures. Then I screwed up our main flash site. It was a personal and professional fail and the more of a mess I made the more depressed (and obsessed) I became about the whole ordeal.
When I finally settled on a blog-site I liked and had it installed, I realized the old blog posts looked horrible. The pictures were all over the place (some centered – some not) and just yesterday I broke down and realized it was OK for the old blog posts to stay on the old blog. For the sake of my sanity, I do not need to fix every single blog post so everything matches. Obsessive compulsive much? Sigh. Then the New Year swooped in and reminded me that I can start over. That’s the best part about New Years.
And that my friends, is what we call closure. I’m lucky that this happened during Christmas while (most) of us were happily busy with seeing family, eating cookies and celebrating the season. There’s a big possibility I could have lost readers but I can’t try to beat myself up about it. So to all the Bella Pop followers out there – I’m asking my readers to forgive me – I see the light at the end of the blog-site tunnel. It’s filled with a stock-pile of new pictures (and old) – weddings, engagements, boudoir, personal. This issue really sucked the creativity and excitement right out of me so I’m going to ease back into it. I may blog posts out of order but I’m not going to be compulsive about it. It’s OK if I post a BRIDE+GROOM session of a couple and then their engagement and wedding a couple of weeks later. Wow I guess I have a New Year’s resolution (or two) after all.
12 things I learned in 2009 – a reflection of iPhone pictures!
1) while it’s fun to cut your own hair, it’s much cuter (and less dangerous) to let your hair stylist do it
2) puffy cheetos became ginormous (and incidentally scare the pants off me now)
3) speaking of pants – be sure to wear snazzy panties just in case your pants rip during a photo shoot
4) if you are going to galavant around San Antonio while your cousin Linzie’s dog (sir Kona) is at home alone -
rest assure your entire bag of beef jerky and two and 1/2 frosted strawberry pop tarts will be shredded apart and consumed for said pup’s amusement
5) turquoise Chuck’s make me smile
6) we need a bigger car. really.
7) we eat Mexican food more than anything else (and apparently I feel a great urgency to document this)
8) if you are at the Boysville Thriftstore in San Antonio – a very grumpy old lady will accost you for taking pictures
9) if there is an ice cream truck, rest assure I (Brandy) will hear it. and I will hunt it down. and I will get ice cream. a pink panther ice cream in fact.
10) it’s totally ok to rip pictures out of magazines and staple them to the wall. just don’t freak out when it’s really humid and they look horrible. they will lay flat again (eventually)
11) 3 great danes at a photo shoot = a very fun time. 1 great dane can drag me. two, haha great danes are huge!
12) so what if Brandon and my Dad cut a hole in the wall to find a cable but it was the wrong spot. you can either a) cover it with furniture or b) use a post-it and get creative

Happy New Year everyone! here’s hoping it’s everything you dream it to be. xoxo – Brandy
p.s I have another resolution -
go to bed before 2 am…
