Shooting with Natural Light – Photo 103
Learn how to get brighter colors, beautiful skin, gorgeous eyes and details just by finding the best light! In class we’ll learn about the different kinds of natural light, how to see the light and find the very best light. We’ll also learn how to shoot in less than desirable light, how to use reflectors and shooting inside with window light. Learning how to really use natural light makes a HUGE difference in your photography!
Skill Level and Gear:
Suggested completion of Shooting in Manual (photo 101) or know how to shoot in manual. Students are encouraged to use a DSLR or point and shoot with manual capability, however a beginner can take this class with a basic point and shoot. Some techniques will be limited if not shooting in manual. For DSLR shooters – a kit lens is just fine, however a lens with f/2.8 or bigger aperture is suggested. Don’t have the lens you want for this class? Consider renting from a local camera shop or online rental.
Class Outline:
Week 1 – seeing the light, intro to the different kinds of natural light
Week 2 - shooting with full sun, shade, overcast, sunrise/sunset, backlight
Week 3 – shooting indoors with window light, using reflectors
Week 4 – being creative with natural light
