Magazines (Brandy’s Fashion Favorites)
I love magazines. I love getting them in the mail, looking for unusual ones at the bookstore or falling for the cooking ones in the grocery line. Magazines rock my world. The first thing I do when I get a new magazine is tear out all the subscription cards. Oh gosh do I get irate during this process. My cat Lilla likes to hang out at my feet and pick up the scraps as I throw them on the floor in a wild eyed fit. Afterwards you’ll find me curled up and happy with my new magazine (and Lilla consequently has something new to shred.) Brandon doesn’t really care for the paper carnage. It makes a mess.
When it comes to the articles, I really only read 1/3 of what’s in the magazine. I’m more interested in scanning for new trends, book reviews, music. On occasion I’ll actually read a whole article (which is a major achievement for me in magazine land!) But my absolute FAVORITE activity is carefully tearing out my favorite images. This is a whole different process from the subscription-card-frenzy. Lilla cat is not allowed to attack. Absolutely NO water or drinks can be by my magazine pile. The images that I love are fresh and fun inspiration. They are filled with bright colors and include unique locations and poses. They are for the wall. The inspiration wall.
That’s right, in our office we have a giant wall filled with all these images I collect and love. It’s a bright, vibrant creative vibe and I love it!
This magazine is the bomb for new trends, what’s hot and everything for outfits and style.
My favorite fashion magazine ever! It is fresh, hip and edgy. I love their photo shoots and use of bright colors. If I had to pick one, it would be Nylon.
I love this magazine. Sure, I’m not a teen but I love the features. The photo shoots almost always rock. I especially loved the recent issue with Mia Wasikowska’s Alice in Wonderland inspired shoot. This is where I discovered Jane Aldridge’s blog Sea of Shoes. I love how they feature new blogs, music and books. Very cool.
Bust is amazing. If I read any magazine articles, it usually is in Bust because they often write about real world events (not, sleep your way to better skin.) I always look forward to the photo shoots featured in this magazine. Of course, that strong “women rock” vibe also takes the cake.
Another go to for what’s new and trendy. Quite often I will like their stylized photo shoots (the recent shoot with Victoria Beckham was great.)
This giant magazine is the bomb for art. It features the high end goods and ultra glossy photo shoots. I love the W and in fact, it’s our favorite magazine prop to use in our own photo shoots.
