So all these Colorado trip pics are leading up to something awesome… Bree and Benjamin’s gorgeous Vail wedding of course! Today we have our adventures at the world’s highest suspension bridge: Royal Gorge Bridge.
When we mentioned Colorado Springs to people, we kept hearing “go to Royal Gorge.” So on our travel day to Vail we took the scenic route, hitting up this place on the way. I knew it was a suspension bridge and it was supposedly really high up but I didn’t imagine just how high. It was wicked cool and so worth the side trip. It was crazy windy on the bridge too (almost buddy system windy but not quite) and of course, I was super happy I brought my sweater. The only downside to Royal Gorge is you have to pay this combo ticket to access the bridge. I was sort of expecting to walk across it like say, the Golden Gate. But I guess being pretty much in the middle of nowhere in little Canyon City, they’ve got to make some $$. With your combo ticket you also have access to a magic show (ha ha yeah, Brandy will pass on the creepy magician) some kind of totally vertical train, the ariel tram, a carousel, ya’know… park stuff. We were going to brave the ariel tram but it stopped running (too windy maybe?) and we were really short on time for that and the other stuff. We really loved this bridge though and I’m glad we got to check it out. Of course, Brandon obsessed with all things engineering was totally beside himself. It really was cool.

View from little outlook area in the park.

Royal Gorge Bridge train! That would be super fun too. Yes, that’s how high we were standing. We want to come back to river raft here. There were a few yellow rafts floating by while we were on the bridge (they looked teeny tiny of course!)

I’m not sure what the deal is with the state signs on the bridge but I just so happened to be standing by Oklahoma. I mean OOOOOOOOOK-lahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain…
honest.

my Chucks! I haven’t worn my Chucks all summer (thanks TOMS!) I need a new pair of turquoise in a bad way.

I love this!! xoxo Brandon

We laughed at this sign. It’s obviously for people like my dad who also ask “can you fish off the back of the cruise ship??”
