Magic Carpet Golf – Galveston (Day 2)
Yeah babyyyyyyy! Love me some mini golf! I was so close to beatin’ B this time but alas, I lost both rounds. I asked B if we had played mini golf on our first date if he’d have let me win. Heck no!! Ha ha. Yeah, that’s my guy. So anyway… of all the times we’ve gone to Galveston we had never hit up the mini golf. Which is silly, considering my obsession with quirky mini golf! I dunno, it was just one of those things my dad always told me to “wave to” as he cheerfully kept truckin’ by. ;) Well we finally hit up Magic Carpet Golf and oh man. It’s so much fun!!
Good to know: this place takes CASH only. I can’t remember the pricing for kids but adults I think was about $7.00 a person for one round. There are two courses, the front course facing the beach (giant conch shell!) and the back course with the very cool snake. If I had to pick one I’d say the back course because it’s SUPER tropical with great landscaping. But then the front course has the conch shell!!! Decisions, decisions. We ended up playing both courses during our trip – the back at night and the front during the day. Fun stuff!!
Ahh, the dragon. I was obsessed with this guy. I was very particular about giving him a hug and taking crotch shots. Um, yeah.

Well kids, stay tuned for more trip pics! And if you’re in Galveston for some fun in the sun be sure to grab some cash and hit up this place! We LOVED it.

Camper Renovation – Sewing, Beads and Fabric (oh my!)
Hey guys!! Well I know you’ve been itching for a camper update!! Where do I begin? First things first… we just took Libby out for a night of camping!! Let’s call it a test run. As suspected there were things to be fixed or adjusted after our camp-out but the great news is she is finally camp ready! It only took 2 weeks of intense work to get there ha! ;) Up until the moment we pulled out and made our way to Tyler State Park I felt like I was running a marathon! There was a floor to be painted yellow (still a work in progress, will explain later) and lots of trim to be painted. My mom was AMAZING and sewed all of our new camper cushions so we’d have a bed to sleep on. My dad was AWESOME and installed our new air conditioner, made sure the fridge wasn’t going anywhere and did all kinds of little things that she needed.
It was crazy. insane. But we got it all done for our one night getaway!!
Here are some pics I took over the last two weeks. You’ll find sneaks of the yellow floor on my instagram. I still have SO MUCH to do in Camperrrr before our official big camping trip next month…
Time to make new cushions!! Now I loved the cushions that came with Libby, but remember that we built a bigger bed?? Well a bigger bed means bigger cushions!! Mom and I spent all day in looking for just the right fabric -we ended up finding a super cute gray and white stripe. BTW we determined that these cushions were *not* original as the foam was just in too good of condition. 50 year old foam would have been all well… old, stinky, stained and/or grainy. They must have been made by some previous owners before my cousin bought the camper. Anyway, we had one week to buy fabric and sew camper cushions!!!! CRAZY.
Since our cushions make the bed and hey, who doesn’t like a comfy couch?? I just *had* to add a layer of memory foam on top of each cushion. I ended up buying two memory foam mattress toppers in queen size (1.5″ thick) and cut them up for the cushions. I also just used the foam from the original cushions (and added foam where needed.) Worked like a charm! p.s. there was also enough memory foam goodness left over for the main “couch” cushion backs and some for pet beds! Fur babies be happy.
Fabric!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the yellow chevron and turquoise ombre I picked up from Mad Tosh. Those are for throw pillows. They only had enough of the stripe fabric to make the main couch cushions so we bought a nice gray to cover the rest of the bed cushions in.
We closed up the backs of the cushions with velcro (easier than zippers) so that the covers could be removable and washable.
Memory foam!!!! seriously. obsessed. with. this. stuff.

Just another one of my projects – this one is still a work in progress! My dad took the original chandelier and painted it white for me. Ok, I should say that I painted it white and made a huge mess of it. Then my dad exclaimed “didn’t anyone teach you how to shoot paint??” and proceeded to sand blast it and repaint it. BA HA HA. I have since been stringing different beads to hang on it. It’s going to be filled with beads of all colors!! It looks AWESOME lit up. Of course, this is as far as I’ve gotten with it. ;)
More projects I’m currently working on! Just some of the vintage hankies I’ve been collecting and a HOARD of paint chips!?! yep.
Check it out!!! Our bigger bed!!! Oh man, this size bed in our little camper is a dream. It’s actually sized between a king and queen. We ended up using a king sheet on it for our first night camping. The original bed was a full size and gosh, it was great to have so much room! The cushions in the photo were in the “cut and figure dimensions before covering them” phase. They have since been covered. WOOT!
And here’s just a little picture of our Libby at Tyler State Park!! After the inside is totally finished we will be painting the exterior and all that jazz. Color? Probably turquoise of some sort!! ;) Stay tuned for more renovation progress! xo B
